A Batting Cage for Kissing Point Baseball Club
The Kissing Point Baseball Club, located in South Turramurra, has been granted funds to install a long-awaited batting cage at their home ground, The Field of Dreams.
Whilst Covid-19 saw the senior winter comp cancelled, and the summer season reduced in length – it hasn’t affected the number of eager players signing up with a 79 Seniors and 89 Juniors playing for KPBC this season.
At last – the new batting cage!
For over 8 years the Club has been working with the council to bring to life a plan for a batting cage – and finally, after receiving a $50,000 grant from the State Government, matched by a further $50, 000 grant from Ku-ring-gai Council, a $10,000 donation from the Turramurra and Lindfield Community Bank and funds from the Club itself – the $140,000 project was completed.
“Having the batting cage will help us maintain and develop our junior and senior teams. For the first time in 4 years, we have a Division 1 Junior team, as well as our first Senior A grade team in more than 15 years”, commented Club President – Peter Sorrell.
The batting cage will enable the club to break up training into smaller groups providing more of a focus on individual skills. It will also provide a place for batting practise when the weather isn’t so kind.
“Having the support of the Turramurra and Lindfield Community Bank is fantastic, and we are fortunate to also get great support from our local South Turramurra shops. It is a great community to be a part of.” said Peter.
