Thank you for purchasing the Ku-ring-gai Edition of Monopoly and helping us to raise a staggering $84,227.00 in profits for our community!
2018 was the year of ‘Ku-ring-gai Monopoly for the team here at the Turramurra and Lindfield Community Bank branches. It’s an initiative that we are very proud of and it provided us with a wonderful opportunity to talk to the community, to introduce various community groups to each other, and ultimately to raise much-needed funds for four very special organisations.
- Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury
- Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’sShelter
- St Lucy’sSchool
- KYDS Youth DevelopmentService
The project wrapped up in early 2019 with the announcement that we’d raised $84,227. Each major beneficiary partner was presented with a cheque for $15,000 at a special presentation evening on the 27th of February.
With $22,787 still left in our community chest coffers after a donation of $1,440 to local schools who supported the project, we announced the Community Chest Grant Program.
The Community Chest Grant Program encouraged local organisations to apply for one of ten financial grants of $2000 for a charitable purpose. With an additional $2,787 to be granted to one of the 10 organisations chosen via a public vote. We are pleased to announce the following 10 organisations have been successful in their application for a Community Chest Grant:
- Turramurra United Football Club
- Fresh TracksFoundation
- St Edmund’sCollege
- Rotary Club of St Ives – D-Caf project
- West Pymble FootballClub
- Lindfield FootballClub
- Early Ed
- Hornsby Connect
Public voting for the “Community Choice Grant” of an additional $2,787 was a popular initiative attracting a substantial number of community votes. The final winner was the Rotary Club of St Ives – D-Caf project.
These projects and the ability to engage and donate to our local community are what set our bank apart from the other “big banks”. Next time you’re doing your banking, think about what your bank is doing for you and your community… It might be time to make the change to the Better Big Bank!
